Abstract:
The need to plan for quality education reform in any nation cannot be over- emphasized. When educational reform is adequately planned, it accelerates structural integration of a plural society by equalizing economic, social and political opportunities. In Nigeria, educational planning has not achieved much in terms of reforming the educational system, despite its advantages, due to myriad of influencing factors. It is in this context that this paper focuses on the educational planning efforts in educational reform in Nigeria and the factors militating against its success in achieving educational objectives. Recommendations are then made towards sustainable educational reform in Nigeria.

Key words:  Education innovation, educational planning, educational reform, effective planning, sustainable educational reform, ,
