Abstract:
Due to stringent regulations of safety of nuclear power plants, numerous efforts have been made to remove particulate matter and gaseous pollutants from a gas stream prior to its emission into the environment during severe accidents. Venturi scrubbers are one of the most popular and highly efficient gas cleaning devices, which frequently remove particulate matter and gaseous pollutants from the gas stream via droplets formed by liquid atomization, usually in the venturi throat. The objective of this study is to present the review of published studies in the last few decades related to the performance of the venturi scrubber to make an optimal design to achieve the required standards.
