CAMP-Responsive Element Modulator (CREM) is a key factor in the regulation of the expression
of number of post-meiotic genes during spermatogenesis. CREM binds to transcription factor and regulates
gene expression in spermatids. In the present study tissue-specific expressions of CREM and different
development stage expressions of CREM in testes of goat were quantified using qRT-PCR. The highest level
was detected in testes (p<0.05). The expression of CREM mRNA reached the highest level in 20-wk-old testes
(p<0.05). Furthermore, immunohistochemistry localized CREM mainly expressed in round spermatids, but not
in spermatogonium and spermatocyte. These results indicated that CREM was a regulation proteins and it may
play an important role in spermatid maturation.
