The study highlights the socio-economic conditions of tribal female workers of the beauty parlors
in Bangladesh. The study consists of 240 sample tribal female workers of the different beauty parlors situated
in six divisional towns of Bangladesh and judgment sampling technique was used to select this sample. The
study reveals that tribal women working at beauty parlor draw competitively higher salary than other tribal
people; they live at a comparatively healthy physical environment provided by their owners. Majority of the
respondents mentioned that their earnings have improved their economic condition significantly and more than
half of them have past work experience of the same job. The tribal female workers of the beauty parlors in
Bangladesh are not only generating income from the beauty parlors they are providing a valuable service to the
new consumer society. The main stream society is not yet ready to provide this type of services. So, we should
not treat this migrant community as temporary visitors rather we should treat them as indispensable and
contributing factor of the social and economic development in Bangladesh. There should be initiative from the
government of Bangladesh to inspect health; safety; welfare and other related issues of the beauty parlors in
Bangladesh and take necessary actions in this regard. Finally, the future research directions are presented.
