This study aims at assessing the aquatic microcosm conditions, the influence of MgSO4 and
NaH2PO4 on the adhesion of P. aeruginosa and E. coli on the basalt, micaschist, granite and sandstone
fragments during 180 to 1440 min. Results showed that in the presence of MgSO4 at concentrations of 0.02,
0.04, 0.06 and 0.08 mol/L the abundances of P. aeruginosa adhered on the fragments rock expressed as
CFU/cm2 which varies from 2.8×105 to 6.2×108 at 0.02 mol/L, 2.5×104 to 4×106 at 0.04 mol/L, 1.2×104 to
1.8×108 at 0.06 mol/L, and from 2.5×105 to 1.9×107 at 0.08 mol/L. E. coli also varies from 2.1×104 to 7.3×104
at 0.02 mol/L, 2.7×104 to 4.5×105 at 0.04 mol/L, 2.3×104 to 4×105 at 0.06 mol/L, and from 104 to 1.2×105 at 0.08
mol/L. In the presence of NaH2PO4, the degree of P. aeruginosa adherence varies from 3.8×104 to 4.6×107 at
0.02 mol/L, 1.3×105 to 3.4×107 at 0.04 mol/L, 9×104to 1.9×107 at 0.06 mol/L, and from 5.3×103 to 1.4×107 at
0.08 mol/L. E. coli equally, varies from 2.8×104 to 1.9×107 at 0.02 mol/L, 7.6×103 to 1.6×107 at 0.04 mol/L,
2.2×104 to 2×107 at 0.06 mol/L, and from 1.2×104 to 1.7×105 at 0.08 mol/L. Cells adherence was significantly
influenced by the mineralogical properties of rocks and the concentration of dissolved ions in the solution
(p<0.05). The presence of P. aeruginosa and those of E. coli adherence also differed significantly (p<0.01).
This would be as a result of the insertion of flagellum on their surface.
